Personal Reflection on Assignment eP1: Create
The purpose of this blog is to reflect upon the creation of an ePortfolio for this class. Thankfully, the creation of this ePortfolio will also help me in completing the requirements for my LeADERS portfolio as well, since an ePortfolio is a requirement for graduation with a LeADERS designation.
Goals
My goal for this eP is to create a site that future employers can visit to preview my academic work that relates to my desired job in Psychology. It is important for me to use this platform to showcase the extent of my studies throughout my degree. I want to obtain my Ph.D in Health Psychology with a focus on Research and I believe that this ePortfolio will do an amazing job of showcasing everything I did as an undergraduate through my Ph.D journey. I deviated slightly from the LeADERS Psychology course recommendations, because I feel that understanding conflict and knowing how to manage conflict is an incredibly important aspect for all who study psychology. We tend to experience conflict more than most when people find out we study psychology, and I believe that the skills from this class will help me to better myself and provide good advise.
Setting up Wix
The easiest part for me was the initial set up and building of the site, as I use WIX for my company website as well. However, the challenge with this site was that I needed to incorporate the required aspects of an ePortfolio for LeADERS along with the assignment. Both requirements have some of the same expectations for completion, which makes creation easier, but I needed to research some site examples from LeADERS to design and format the other areas of focus to ensure I meet all mandatory sections. That took some time to design and I am still working on designing some elements, but I believe that I have set up a well-organized website to showcase both requirements adequately.
Confidence
I personally feel very confident in my professional presence online. While this is still a work-in-progress website, I believe that it accurately represents my work thus far and presents a good overview of who I am as an individual. I am currently formatting materials required for my LeADERS portfolio, and gathering works to showcase for each area of focus. My hope is that my professional abilities will be reflected in those chosen works to showcase, and that future employers will get a sense of the quality of work they will get out of me.
